2 held for running sex racket in Doon; 3 women rescued

Dehradun: Two men were arrested in Dehradun on Wednesday for allegedly running a sex racket from a rented accommodation located adjacent to a play school. Three women were also rescued during the operation.

Police said both the accused, Ashish Kumar Pandey, 42, and Jang Bahadur, 50, are residents of Jaipur.

City CO Swapnil Muyal said the accused were arrested during a raid conducted after police received a tip-off from an informer.

“During the raid, a man was found in an objectionable condition with three women. Certain objectionable articles were also seized from the spot. The illegal activity was being carried out near a play school,” said Muyal.

He said that Pandey had previously been arrested and sent to jail in connection with a similar offence in Rajasthan.

“The three women found at the premises were rescued. An FIR was filed under relevant sections of the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, and efforts are underway to identify and nab others involved in the racket, if any,” said Muyal.
