1 dead, 3 injured as car falls into gorge in Pithoragarh

Pithoragarh: One person died and three others were injured after their car fell into a gorge on the Pithoragarh-Jhulaghat road while they were returning from a wedding function on Monday night. Lakky Bhandari, 22,died on the spot. The injured — driver Jagdish Singh, Mohan Singh, both 40, and Sachin Chand, 22 — were admitted to the district hospital in Pithoragarh.Jhulaghat SHO Sanjeev Kumar said, “The driver lost control of the vehicle, and it fell about 100 metres into the gorge.” A motorcyclist passing by informed police, following which local police and rescue teams reached the spot and carried out a rescue operation. Police said the exact cause of the accident was being investigated.
