Post by Vij’s brother triggers row, Sikhs demand apology

Ambala: A major row has erupted over an objectionable social media post by Kapil Vij, brother of Haryana cabinet minister Anil Vij. As per sources, Kapil wrote the controversial post on his social media on Tuesday. The post immediately went viral on social media, with a large number of Sikh users condemning and criticising him.Kapil Vij deleted the objectionable post, but by that time its screenshot went viral.Kapil posted on Thursday, "I made an expression through a post on Tuesday. If anybody is hurt by my post, then I accept my mistake. I respect all Gurus." Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (HSGMC) also formed a team to probe the issue and hold discussion with Vij.HSGMC posted on its official social media, "Kapil Vij made an objectionable post on Facebook. Taking it seriously, HSGMC president Jagdish Singh Jhinda has taken immediate action. A five-member special team has been dispatched to Ambala to seek clarification from Kapil Vij."INLD leader Onkar Singh said, "Sikh community respects people of all faiths. But we cannot tolerate any distortion of the Sikh beliefs. Kapil Vij should take advice from learned Sikhs in his circle before making such posts." Haryana president of Shiromani Akali Dal Harkesh Singh Mohri said, "Brother of minister Anil Vij has accepted his mistake but he has not apologised.
