BJP deliberately depriving youth of jobs: Bhupinder Singh Hooda
Rohtak: Former Haryana chief minister and leader of opposition (LoP) Bhupinder Singh Hooda has said that as per NCRB reports, an average of nine people committed suicide daily in Haryana and there was deep despair among the youth, as they were unable to find employment. "The youth and citizens of Haryana are grappling with severe depression, unemployment, economic insecurity, and mental stress while the BJP government is deliberately depriving Haryana's youth of jobs and is instead awarding these positions to people from outside the state," he said.Citing examples from various recruitment drives, the LoP alleged that rules were deliberately framed specifically to exclude the youth of Haryana, in violation of UGC guidelines. "In the recruitment for assistant professors in Hindi, out of 60 selected candidates in the general category, 41 were from other states," he said."In the recruitment for assistant professors in English, which comprised 613 posts, only 151 candidates were selected, while the remaining posts were left vacant. Furthermore, committing a grave injustice against the Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC) category, only one candidate was selected out of the 60 reserved seats," he added.Hooda added that in the recruitment for assistant professors in psychology, out of 400 candidates vying for 85 posts, only three were selected. In the recruitment drive for AE/SDO positions within Haryana Power Utilities (HPU), 214 candidates were called for document verification, of whom only 29 were from Haryana.Similarly, in recruitment drives for the civil irrigation department, technical education department, SDO (electrical), lecturer group-B, assistant professor (political science), and the agriculture department (ADO), a conspiracy was hatched against the youth of Haryana, and preference was accorded to candidates from outside the state, he alleged.Welcoming the decision by the Punjab and Haryana high court to quash the recruitment process for assistant professors in English, he stated that this marked a victory for the long-drawn struggle of Haryana's youth. The Court explicitly clarified that the government's guidelines dated November 11, 2022, constitute a violation of the UGC guidelines of 2018.
