AAP-BJP clashes in Punjab after minister Sanjeev Arora’s arrest
CHANDIGARH: A day after Punjab minister Sanjeev Arora was arrested by ED and taken to Delhi, AAP on Sunday launched statewide protests against the BJP-led central govt, accusing it of “weaponising and misusing central agencies to intimidate opposition and destabilise non-BJP govts”. AAP workers held demonstrations and gheraoed BJP offices at district headquarters, raising slogans against PM Narendra Modi and govt.
At a few places, both sides nearly came to blows. In Ludhiana, AAP and BJP workers shoved each other outside the local BJP office. In Nawanshahr’s Balachaur, there was a tense face-off between AAP workers led by Banga MLA Sukhwinder Kumar Sukhi and BJP district chief Rajwinder Lucky. Punjab BJP working president Ashwani Sharma demanded an FIR against Sukhi over alleged ‘unruly behaviour’.
