NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four states going to the polls, counting is well underway in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, with leads shifting as rounds come in. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat house, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 28 and leading in 69 more, comfortably crossing the majority mark on current trends. Congress and its allies are trailing with a tally of 22, all in leads. Independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 7 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in a 234-seat assembly. SPA has a tally of 60, with 7 won and 53 leading, while NDA trails with a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in Tamil Nadu with a tally of 115, still 3 seats short of the majority mark if those leads hold. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat house, holding a tally of 179 with 11 won and 168 leading. TMC is trailing with a tally of 106, comprising 2 won and 104 leading. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 8 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, NDA is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 16 in the 30-seat assembly, with a tally of 18, having already won 13 and leading in 5 more. SPA has a tally of 5, while candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 7 in Puducherry.
