NDA, BJP lead in Assam, Puducherry and West Bengal as counting progresses
Across four states, counting is well underway with leads shaping up in Assam, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry. In Assam, where 64 seats are needed for a majority in the 126-seat assembly, NDA holds a tally of 97, having won 20 and leading in 77, comfortably crossing the majority mark on current trends. Congress and its allies are trailing with a tally of 21. Independent and smaller party candidates cumulatively account for a tally of 8 in Assam. In Tamil Nadu, the majority mark stands at 118 in the 234-seat house. SPA has a tally of 57, with 7 won and 50 leads, while NDA trails with a tally of 55. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively lead in Tamil Nadu with a tally of 118, touching the majority mark on present trends. In West Bengal, BJP is leading in enough seats to cross the majority mark of 148 in the 294-seat assembly, holding a tally of 200 with 8 won and 192 leads. TMC is trailing with a tally of 84. Candidates from other parties and independents cumulatively hold a tally of 9 in West Bengal. In Puducherry, where 16 seats decide a majority in the 30-seat house, NDA has a tally of 20 with 13 seats won and 7 leads, crossing the majority mark if these leads hold. SPA has a tally of 5, with 2 won and 3 leading.
