Nivedha M murugan of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) won the Poompuhar constituency with a margin of 8260 votes. He garnered 81096 votes, while All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate Pavunraj. S came second with 72836 votes.
