The Bombay High Court has strongly criticized the water resources department for ignoring over 70 illegal borewells in Chimbel. Justices expressed concern over groundwater depletion and potential saline water ingress in the coastal state. The court ordered immediate action to seal these borewells, with police and panchayat assistance to ensure safety.

The union home ministry has informed the government that the goa coastal police would get its first set of a big craft and a medium-sized boat by April 2009.
