Veteran photographer Nemai Ghosh, also Satyajit Ray’s official still photographer for 25 years, breathed his last in Kolkata on Wednesday at the age of 86. Nemai Ghosh’s association with Ray started during ‘Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne’ (1969). He went on to be the master filmmaker’s on-set photographer until ‘Agantuk’ (1991).

The Alipore Museum, in collaboration with DAG, is set to host an exhibition showcasing photographer Nemai Ghosh's extensive documentation of Satyajit Ray, starting Friday and running until September 13, 2025.

When acclaimed photographer Nemai Ghosh breathed his last in Kolkata on Tuesday due to cardiac respiratory failure, many referred to it as the end of a legend who among other attributes was known as Satyajit Ray’s Boswell and the only Indian lensman to have photographed director Michaelangelo Antonioni at work.
