Disease claims 44-year-old homemaker

Kolkata: A middle-aged homemaker, Kabery Chakraborty, from Madhyamgram’s Badu died of dengue at RG Kar Hospital on Sunday.
The 44-year-old woman was suffering from fever for five days. “She was earlier under treatment at home. But her condition worsened on Friday evening, her platelet count dropping to 62,000. She had severe respiratory distress. We rushed her to RG Kar on Friday evening.Her condition kept deterioratingand she died on Sunday morning, ” said a relative.
Residents alleged that the civic body had not taken measures to check mosquito breeding. Madhyamgram Municipality chairman Nemai Ghosh brushed aside the charges.
