In the Thiruthuraipoondi constituency, CPI’s K Marimuthu claimed the winner's crown with 74062 votes. He competed against TVK’s C Pandiyan S and defeated him by a margin of 12922 votes.
Thiruthuraipoondi is a Reserved (SC) constituency in the Thiruvarur district.
It is a traditional stronghold for the Left, particularly the
Communist Party of India (CPI), supported by the agrarian labor base of the region. In the 2021 Assembly elections, CPI’s K Marimuthu won the seat by securing 97,092 votes. He defeated AIADMK’s C. Suresh Kumar, who secured 67,024 votes. The margin of victory was 30,068 votes. In the 2016 Assembly elections, CPI’s K.
Ulaganathan won the seat with 72,847 votes, defeating AIADMK’s K. Uma Maheswari, who received 59,673 votes.
The margin of victory stood at 13,174 votes. In the 2011 Assembly elections, CPI’s K. Ulaganathan secured 83,399 votes, defeating Congress (INC) candidate P. Selvadurai, who secured 60,412 votes. The margin of victory was 22,987 votes.
