NEW DELHI: Joy Prakash Das of the Congress emerged victorious in the election, securing a total of 86981 votes. He defeated AGP candidate Basanta Das by a decisive margin of 23751 votes.Nowboicha Assembly constituency is one of the 126 assembly constituencies of Assam a north east state of India.In Nowboicha (SC), Asom Gana Parishad (AGP)'s candidate Basanta Das, is contesting against Congress leader Joy Prakash Das. Exit poll forecasts suggest that the BJP-led alliance is on track to secure a comfortable majority, which would see Himanta Biswa Sarma continue as Assam’s chief minister.The state conducted voting for all 126 constituencies on April 9, recording turnout exceeding 85%.
