Dum Dum assembly election results 2026: BJP’s Arijit Bakshi defeats TMC’s Bratyabrata Basu by 25,273 votes

In Dum Dum, BJP candidate Arijit Bakshi (Bharatiya Janata Party) defeated TMC candidate Bratyabrata Basu (All India Trinamool Congress) by 25,273 votes, securing 99,181 votes against 73,908 after 15 rounds of counting.Dum Dum is an assembly seat in North 24 Parganas district, West Bengal (No. 114). It forms part of the Dum Dum Lok Sabha constituency and covers Dum Dum Municipality plus wards 1-17 of South Dum Dum Municipality. This fully urban constituency near Kolkata has around 256,345 electors and 277 polling stations, featuring high residential density with SC at ~12.7per cent and ST at ~0.97per cent. In the 2021 election, Bratya Basu of All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) won with 87,999 votes (47 per cent share), defeating BJP's Bimal Shankar Nanda (61,268 votes, 33per cent) by 26,731 votes. AITC's Basu retained the seat from 2016 (margin 9,316 votes), reversing CPI(M)'s historical dominance in this urban Kolkata suburb.
