NEW DELHI: Mridul Kumar Dutta of the BJP emerged victorious in the election, securing a total of 90049 votes. He defeated Congress candidate Sagorika Bora by a decisive margin of 36953 votes.

There were a total of 177529 registered voters on the electoral rolls for the 2026 Assembly election in Dergaon Assembly constituency, of whom 87114 were male, 90415 female and 0 belonged to the third gender.
Exit polls released on Wednesday evening for the high-stakes Assam battle indicate a clear majority for the incumbent Himanta Biswa Sarma-led government, with most pollsters favouring the BJP to secure a third consecutive term in the tea-producing state.
Dergaon Assembly constituency is now a general (unreserved) seat in Golaghat district of Assam. Earlier, it was reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates.
Following the 2023 delimitation exercise, the constituency is now part of the Kaziranga Parliamentary constituency. Previously, it was under the Kaliabor Lok Sabha seat, which was abolished during the exercise.
In the 2021 Assam Assembly elections, the constituency had 1,74,870 registered voters, with 1,33,102 valid votes cast.
Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) candidate Bhabendra Nath Bharali won the seat with 64,043 votes. Congress candidate Bani Hazarika finished second with 51,546 votes, losing by a margin of 12,497 votes.
In the 2016 Assembly elections, Dergaon had 1,46,727 electors, with 1,20,611 valid votes recorded.
AGP candidate Bhabendra Nath Bharali won the seat with 63,079 votes, defeating Congress candidate Aroti Hazarika Kachari, who secured 46,807 votes. The victory margin was 16,272 votes.
