Ashoknagar election results 2026: Dr Sumay Hira wins Ashoknagar for BJP

Dr Sumay Hira of the Bharatiya Janata Party has won the Ashoknagar constituency with 96,807 votes. He defeated Narayan Goswami of the All India Trinamool Congress, who secured 87,399 votes, by a margin of 9,408 votes.Ashoknagar is a general category constituency in North 24 Parganas, part of the Barasat Lok Sabha constituency. It covers the Ashoknagar-Kalyangarh urban agglomeration and has a mixed Hindu-Muslim demographic. In 2026, sitting TMC MLA Narayan Goswami contests again, this time against BJP's Somoy Hira.In 2021, TMC's Narayan Goswami won with 93,587 votes, defeating BJP's Tanuja Chakraborty by 23,532 votes. In 2016, TMC also held the seat comfortably, continuing its dominance established after wresting it from the Left.
