House maid arrested for killing elderly woman in Kurnool

Tirupati: Kurnool III town police on Tuesday arrested a 49-year-old house maid on charges of killing a 75-year-old woman in Ganesh Nagar locality of Kurnool city on Sept 1. The accused was identified as Kuruba Vara Lakshmi, a resident of Gopalanagaram village in Peapully mandal of Nandyal district. Kurnool SP Vikrant Patil said Vara Lakshmi, who worked as a maid at the victim's house, attacked the elderly woman with a pestle and decamped with her jewellery. Following a complaint lodged by the victim's relatives, police arrested Vara Lakshmi near Chetlamallapuram village in Veldurthi mandal on Friday. Police recovered gold chain, necklace, bangles, and earrings from the possession of the accused.
