Two Arrested for Alleged Gang Rape of Minor in Jamshedpur - Police Investigation Underway

Jamshedpur: Two persons have been arrested for the alleged gang rape of a minor PVTG girl and sexually harassing another in the Seraikela Kharsawan district, police said on Tuesday. The crime occurred on Monday evening when both girls were returning home from a ration shop.The accused — Khagen Mardi (24) and Haripad Soren (30) — allegedly apprehended the girls and tried to rape both. However, one of the girls, after initial harassment, managed to escape. “The rape survivor is admitted to a hospital,” said a police officer, adding that an FIR has been lodged under relevant sections of the Pocso Act, and further investigation is going on. Both culprits have been nabbed,” he said.
