CHENNAI: Politicians across the state offered their congratulations to the newly elected Vice President C P Radhakrishnan.
Despite being from the opposition camp, chief minister M K Stalin wished Radhakrishnan.
"I warmly congratulate. #CPRadhakrishnan on his election as the #VicePresident of India and hope that he will discharge his duties with steadfast resolve to the constitutional framework and the democratic ideals of our nation," Stalin tweeted.
The chief minister also appreciated opposition candidate Sudershan Reddy "for his determined fight that upheld the spirit of #INDIA's democracy" and reflected the principles they stand for.
AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami stated on X, "As a senior leader of the BJP, a distinguished Member of Parliament, and a Governor of various states, his dedicated public life and tireless service to the people have earned him this prestigious recognition." BJP state president Nainar Nagenthran said, "Congratulations to the Tamil Son of Soil!...It brings me great joy that, after many years, a son of Tamil soil is about to adorn such an important responsibility in leading the nation.

PMK president Anbumani Ramadoss and John Pandian, founder of Tamilaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam also congraulated CPR.
Meanwhile, there were celebrations in Coimbatore and Tirupur as soon as news of the victory came. BJP cadres gathered at Gandhipuram to distribute sweets to the public. Coimbatore district BJP President Ramesh Kumar said the victory of CPR, a leader for all sections of the people, is a moment of pride for the city.
