Andhra Pradesh MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu assures free education at Vignan University for ST students
GUNTUR: Narasaraopet MP Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu has assured that no Scheduled Tribe (ST) student should discontinue higher education due to financial difficulties and announced free education support for meritorious students at Vignan University.A grand felicitation programme was organised at SSN College in Narasaraopet to honour ST students from Palnadu district who excelled in the Intermediate examinations. Participating as the chief guest, the MP congratulated and felicitated students who secured first and second ranks in various groups across the district.Addressing the gathering, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu announced that 287 ST students who secured more than 600 marks in the Intermediate examinations would be provided free seats and free education at Vignan University. He said parents should not stop their children’s education midway due to financial constraints and urged them to confidently encourage higher studies.The MP noted that out of 346 ST students who passed the Intermediate examinations across the district, as many as 287 students — more than 83 per cent — secured first-class marks, which he described as a matter of pride for the district. He congratulated the students for their outstanding performance and also thanked teachers who worked tirelessly to guide them.

He expressed hope that at least four students from every ST village should pursue higher education and secure respectable positions in society, inspiring many others in their villages to continue their studies.The MP emphasised that if ST students complete at least a degree course, securing government jobs would become much easier. He appealed to parents to ensure that their children continue their education at least until graduation.During the programme, local teachers also requested the MP to help establish a new government junior college in Narasaraopet for the benefit of students from nearby areas. Responding positively, Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu assured them that he would make efforts to establish a junior college in the town.
