Visakhapatnam: Two women posing as passengers to board a bus managed to steal around 360 gms of gold ornaments from the bag of a woman passenger at the RTC complex in Vizag on Saturday evening. The theft of gold ornaments has created panic among the passengers and raised security concerns at the busiest bus complex. The passengers urged the police to deploy more police personnel at the complex during the summer rush to prevent possible property offences.
As per the reports, the incident took place when a woman (victim) passenger was preparing to board a Kakinada-bound bus at the RTC complex in Vizag city. The victim was reportedly carrying a bag containing around 360 gms of gold ornaments.
Two women followed her when the victim boarded the bus, and they stole the gold ornaments from her bag and managed to escape from the spot. The entire incident was reportedly captured on CCTV cameras installed at the bus complex.
The police have registered a case, and they are examining the footage to identify and trace the two women suspects involved in the theft. The police suspect that the accused were repeat offenders who have targeted passengers carrying valuables in crowded areas in parts of the region.
