Trichy: Online registration for UG admission in government colleges began on Friday.
It has been notified that students wishing to enroll in govt colleges may register their applications online at the website https://www.tngasa.in/ between May 7 and 29. Students who completed their Class 12 exams are eligible to apply now.
"We had a few students visiting the college and enquiring about admissions. Since the results were not declared on Thursday, we collected their details and asked them to return after the announcement of results. We have also set up a help desk to assist students with their queries. Though the process can be completed online, students can also visit the college in person, and our staff will help them complete the online registration process," said K Angammal, principal of Thanthai Periyar Gvt Arts and Science College. The Class 12 results are to be announced on Friday.
Sources said a new "course code" system has been introduced this year for admissions to government colleges. In previous years, students could select only their preferred course. Under the revised system, applicants can now choose both the course and their preferred medium of instruction — Tamil or English. College professors said the new system would simplify the admission process by enabling colleges to identify students who have specifically applied for a particular course stream and medium of instruction. They added that the revised procedure gives students greater clarity and flexibility in selecting both their desired programme and language of study.
