18 BDU staff’s service records under scrutiny
Trichy: Eighteen staff members of Bharathidasan University, including teaching and non-teaching personnel, have come under the scanner of the local fund audit (LF audit) following a complaint by professor and director of centre for study of social inclusion K Suriyan alleging irregularities in their promotions and service certificates provided. The LF audit office directed the university to furnish records and service certificates related to the employees' previous periods of service. The complaint names 18 staff members including senior people. Suriyan alleged that the staff members' past service records produced were either not in accordance with UGC norms or supported by ‘fabricated' evidence. "The university is providing the necessary documents, and we are going through them. There has been a slight delay because of the elections, as staff members were engaged in election duty. The work will speed up soon," an auditing official told TOI. "It is quite a common issue across universities. If proved, we will recover the salary shown as service for the particular period," a professor said.
