Home Guard jawan held for rape, blackmail of teacher

Surat: A 37-year-old Home Guard jawan was on Sunday booked by Dindoli police for allegedly raping a 47-year-old schoolteacher and blackmailing her using an intimate video of her. The accused later circulated the video of the complainant, after which she approached police.Police booked Vijay Aagale, a Home Guard jawan who also works as a property broker, for allegedly raping the woman, assaulting her, and for offences under the IT Act.In her FIR, the victim stated that her husband had died about a year ago. About the same time she came into contact with the accused, whose children were her students. They had first met at parent-teacher meetings. The accused initially offered to help the woman and later developed proximity to her.They met at various locations and entered a physical relationship. The accused allegedly began blackmailing the woman using a private video of her that he had filmed. Using this video, he allegedly also extorted Rs 5 lakh from her. The accused also began assaulting her and continued blackmailing her.As their relationship worsened, the accused posted the video of the woman as his WhatsApp status and circulated it. When she learned about this, the woman approached police and lodged the complaint."They had been on good terms but later developed differences. The accused was blackmailing the victim using an private video and later circulated it," a police officer said.
