Jharkhand Biodiversity Board launches certificate courses for conservation awareness

The Jharkhand Biodiversity Board has introduced two certificate courses to promote biodiversity conservation awareness and structured knowledge across the state. Starting in October, these paid courses will initially be available in Ranchi, Dumka, Gumla, and Jamshedpur. The hybrid courses will combine online learning with field visits to enhance practical understanding of indigenous conservation efforts.

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Biodiversity Board (JBB) launched two certificate courses aimed at spreading awareness and imparting structured knowledge on biodiversity conservation in the state during a consultative meeting of JBB held here on Tuesday.The two paid courses will start in October in four districts: Ranchi, Dumka, Gumla, and Jamshedpur, in the first phase.JBB is considering introducing the courses in other districts of the state in a later phase.Both courses are designed to provide participants with hands-on knowledge in biodiversity conservation and management."The certificate courses aim to foster a deeper understanding of biodiversity principles, practices, and policies and to equip participants with the skills and knowledge to contribute to biodiversity conservation efforts," said Sanjeev Kumar, member secretary of JBB.Kumar added that there will be no age bar to participate in the two courses. "The courses will be conducted in hybrid modes. Eighty percent of the courses will be in online mode, and the remaining 20% will be in offline mode. The participants of the courses will be given exposure visits to villages to learn indigenous biodiversity conservation efforts," Kumar added.During the consultative meeting, secretary of forest, environment, and climate change department Aboobacker Siddique lauded JBB’s efforts in creating a trained pool of individuals who can contribute to the protection and management of biodiversity in Jharkhand.
