PMC launches drive for clean festivals

The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has launched a special sanitation campaign to ensure a garbage and plastic-free festive season in Patna. With Navratri, Diwali, and Chhath approaching, the municipal commissioner has directed zonal officials to intensify cleaning efforts, particularly in public spaces.

Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has started a special sanitation campaign to ensure garbage and plastic free festive season in the city.With major festivals like Navratri, Diwali and Chhath on the horizon, municipal commissioner Animesh Kumar Parashar has directed all zonal officials to ramp up cleaning efforts, with a special focus on public spaces.In a press release issued Tuesday, the PMC announced that special teams will be formed to conduct surprise inspections and ensure the city’s cleanliness. “During festivals, the amount of waste in the city increases and this time we are aiming to make the festivals ‘garbage and plastic free’. Additional manpower and vehicles will be deployed to maintain hygiene,” he said.The initiative will be monitored in real time through the Smart Integrated Control Command Centre (ICCC). The PMC’s six zones—Nutan Rajdhani, Patliputra, Kankarbagh, Bankipur, Azeemabad and Patna City—will each have dedicated executive officers overseeing the cleanliness drive.
