Commissioner inspects anganwadi centres, childcare homes in Chatra
Chatra: North Chotanagpur divisional commissioner Manoj Kumar on Saturday inspected anganwadi centres, childcare institutions, and govt offices in Chatra, reviewing child welfare, infrastructure, revenue collection and administrative functioning.Kumar visited anganwadi centres in Gidhaur block and assessed facilities for children, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. At Dwari Purvi anganwadi centre, he interacted with children and expressed satisfaction with their responses to basic educational questions. He directed officials to ensure regular supply of nutritious food items, according to the prescribed menu. He also reviewed drinking water, toilet and water filter facilities and asked officials to strengthen basic infrastructure.“We must ensure that anganwadi centres, child care institutions and revenue offices function efficiently and transparently so that people receive better services without unnecessary difficulties. Basic facilities for children, women and differently-abled persons should be strengthened on priority, while all departments must work in coordination to achieve their targets and improve public service delivery,” he said.
At Bariatu anganwadi centre, he expressed displeasure over the absence of lighting, fans and other essential amenities. He also found the weighing machine non-functional and ordered immediate corrective measures.At the Chatra circle office, Kumar directed officials to take steps for timely disposal of land and revenue matters. He stressed transparency and accountability in public service delivery and called for prompt disposal of pending cases.The divisional commissioner also visited the Mission Vatsalya-run boys’ and girls’ homes at Pakaria. He reviewed security arrangements, including CCTV functioning, and interacted with children on food, education and rehabilitation. He instructed officials to prioritise rehabilitation and arrange computer, typing and tailoring training for girls. He also directed coordination with Ranchi-based CIP for sign language experts for differently abled and hearing-impaired girls.At the collectorate auditorium, Kumar later chaired a revenue review meeting and directed departments to intensify monitoring to meet targets. He also expressed displeasure over the absence of an electricity department official.
