Oppn boycotts proceedings after motion on VB-G Ram G denied
Raipur: The Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly witnessed pandemonium on Tuesday after the Opposition Congress boycotted proceedings when its adjournment notice on the ‘contentious' Viksit Bharat–Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM G) issue was rejected during Zero Hour.Congress legislators alleged that the BJP-led Central govt was weakening the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA) by replacing it with a new mission. They said the funding pattern under MNREGA earlier stood at a 90:10 ratio between the Centre and the state, but it was changed to 60:40, meaning the Centre would contribute 60% while the state would bear 40%.Former CM Bhupesh Baghel said the 2005 Act was one of the largest employment-generating programmes and supported lakhs of labourers. Congress demanded a discussion through an adjournment motion. Senior BJP legislator Ajay Chandrakar interrupted the proceedings and noted that the Opposition indicated on Monday that it would not participate in the day's business, and was now "doing politics". LoP said the party would move an adjournment motion before boycotting proceedings.
