Pune: Residents from various housing societies in the Autade-Handewadi area near Hadapsar on Friday resorted to agitation over poor water and power supply, besides lack of civic amenities.
The residents gathered in the Autade-Handewadi area in the morning and gave slogans demanding solutions to problems. They vented their ire over lack of basic civic services despite paying property and other taxes to the civic administration. Residents said they would continue with the agitation on Saturday.
One of the agitators, Ashish Ingale, said, "Our protest was to highlight key issues — lack of water, civic amenities, poor drainage network and voltage fluctuations. All these issues were raised on various platforms, but there was hardly any impact. The authorities should hold discussions with us and give timelines for resolving the problems."
Another agitator said despite paying huge property tax, housing societies in the Autade-Handewadi area incurred significant expenses on water tankers. "The PMC is not providing adequate tankers. On top of that, there is no control over the money the private tanker operators are charging from us," she said.
