The Karad police detained three youths from Pune at the Tasawade toll naka on the Pune-Bangalore national highway and recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 73 lakh from their car.

PUNE/KARAD: The Karad police onSaturday detained three youths from Pune at the Tasawade toll naka on thePune-Bangalore national highway and recovered unaccounted cash of Rs 73 lakhfrom their car.The suspects have been identified as NarendraKashiram Prajapati (32) of Sadashiv Peth, Manoj Narendra Thakur (31) of Gultekdiand Ghanashyam Jadeja (27) of Budhwar Peth.Senior police inspectorSambhaji Patil of the Karad city police station told TOI that the trio weretravelling in the car from Goa to Pune. Their vehicle was stopped, following atip-off from deputy superintendent of police Vijay Dalvi around 3 pm, he said,adding that the cash was hidden below the rear seat of the vehicle.���The youths were detained under section 41 (d) of the CriminalProcedure Code after they failed to explain the source of the cash,��� hesaid.According to Patil, Prajapati works as a courier (angadiya) forillegally transferring unaccounted money belonging to rich and influentialpeople.Investigations have revealed that Jadeja is the owner of thecar and Thakur a close friend of the main suspect Prajapati. Prajapati transfersmoney on a commission basis and gets Rs 220 perlakh.���Investigations have further revealed that the peoplePrajapati was working for do not issue cheques for more than Rs 50,000 to evadeincome-tax,��� Patil said.
