Patna: A day after BJP booth president Rupak Sahni (23) was shot dead in Samastipur’s Khanpur area over an alleged personal feud, Samastipur SP Arvind Pratap Singh on Thursday suspended the local SHO and arrested two suspects in connection with the murder.According to police, Sahni, a former Shadipur panchayat president and brother of Deepak Sahni, the BJP district IT cell convenor, was attacked by bike-borne assailants while returning home from his cyber café late Wednesday evening. He was shot by assailants about 300 metres from his home. Locals rushed him to the community health centre (CHC), where doctors declared him brought dead.

After receiving information about the murder, Samastipur SP Arvind Pratap Singh visited the spot and reviewed the situation. Following questions over the local police’s handling of the initial probe, the SP ordered the immediate suspension of Khanpur SHO.“No laxity in crime control will be tolerated,” Singh said, adding that the investigation revealed a long-standing feud between Rupak and the other party. An FIR had earlier been lodged regarding this dispute.On Wednesday, the conflict escalated into violence, and Rupak was shot dead. Police swiftly arrested two named accused after the incident. “They are being interrogated to uncover the conspiracy and identify others involved. Raids are being conducted to nab the absconding accused,” the SP added.
