Rs 10 lakh award for each India hockey player: CM

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar declared a Rs 10 lakh cash prize for each player of the Indian hockey team and Rs 5 lakh for each supporting staff member following their Asia Cup 2025 victory in Rajgir. He lauded the team's outstanding performance in the final against South Korea. The win secures India's automatic qualification for the World Hockey Championship.

Patna: CM Nitish Kumar on Monday announced a cash award of Rs 10 lakh for each player and Rs 5 lakh for each member of the supporting staff of the Indian hockey team that won the Asia Cup 2025. The tournament was held in Rajgir.“A lot of good wishes for the future of the Indian hockey team,” the CM said. He praised the team’s performance, saying they had made the country proud with a “brilliant win” in the final event.Eight national teams from across Asia participated in the Asia Cup 2025 hockey tournament at Rajgir with India lifting the trophy by defeating South Korea in the final. With this victory, the Indian team secures automatic entry to the World Hockey Championship.
