Over 300 govt offices go digital in Madhubani
Madhubani: Madhubani district has successfully implemented the e-Office system from the district to block level, despite limited resources.Officials said the system is now operational in district offices, sub-divisions, blocks, municipal bodies and registered societies, improving transparency, efficiency and timeliness in official work. The introduction of e-Office file and mail modules has accelerated the disposal of applications and correspondence.

A total of 388 offices across the district have been brought under the e-Office framework with 1,240 user IDs created for officials and staff. Digitisation has involved scanning and uploading 6,787 files at the district level, 8,272 at the sub-divisional level, and 25,924 old files at block offices.Officials said 32,743 official letters have been received through the e-Office mail module, while 21,749 files have already been disposed of digitally. Real-time tracking of file movement has increased transparency and accountability.The system has also reduced manpower and postal costs, eliminating the need for physical file transfers. The average disposal time for files has dropped from 72 hours or more to 24 hours.
Financial savings have been significant. The Collectorate earlier spent over Rs 25 lakh annually on paper and cartridges. With e-Office, each of the 388 offices now saves around Rs 2 lakh per year, amounting to a total estimated saving of Rs 7.76 crore annually.District magistrate Anand Sharma said, “All drafting, approvals, and file disposals are now being carried out digitally, ensuring faster service delivery and better governance.”The success of e-Office in Madhubani marks a key step towards paperless governance and digital administration in Bihar.
