Nine people arrested for running liquor trade in city
In a decisive move against illegal activities, Patna authorities have detained nine suspects linked to a clandestine liquor trade operating in Kankarbagh. Following an anonymous tip-off, a specialized squad conducted a surprise raid in the slums adjacent to Bahadurpur Housing Colony, confiscating a staggering 66 litres of homemade liquor and dismantling encroaching structures.
Patna: In a swift crackdown on illegal liquor activities, nine people were arrested and sent to jail for allegedly running an illicit liquor business in Kankarbagh area of Patna.Acting on a tip-off about an illegal country-made liquor trade in slums near Bahadurpur Housing Colony under Agamkuan police station jurisdiction, DM Thiyagrajan SM formed a special team.During the raid, the team, comprising the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) executive officer, excise superintendent, SHO, and other officials, inspected the site and arrested nine people. They removed encroachment from the govt land, and approximately 66 litres of illegal country-made liquor were seized during the operation.The arrested people were identified as Indal Manjhi (40), Jitendra Manjhi (25), Guddu Manjhi (23), Sunil Pandit (40), Prabhat Ranjan Prasad (45), Anil Kumar Mukhiya (28), Bittu Kumar (24), Ramanuj Manjhi (35), and Mukesh Kumar (52).The DM said that strict instructions have been given to officials for the effective implementation of prohibition laws. He stated that no form of illegal activity will be tolerated, and stringent legal action will be taken against those found guilty.
