Patna: Emphasising the significant role of small enterprises in driving India’s development strategy, Keshab Das, director of the Bhubaneswar-based Centre for Research in Regions and Development (CRRD), stressed on Thursday that fostering institutional innovation is essential for the sustainable growth of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).Delivering a lecture on “MSMEs and clusters in India” at the department of economic studies and policy at the Central University of South Bihar (CUSB), Gaya, Das underlined the contributions of MSMEs in exports, employment, and inclusive growth. He highlighted how MSME clusters boost productivity, competitiveness, and the use of shared infrastructure.He called for regular census of MSMEs and handicraft industries, availability of annual production and export data, and measures for enhancement of products’ demand by exploring new markets and marketing support through online platforms.Department head Krishnan Chalil and event coordinator Atish Kumar Dash also participated in the deliberations that followed the lecture. A large number of faculty members and scholars of the university attended the lecture.
