Begusarai: L N Mithila University (LNMU), Darbhanga, has appointed professors-in-charges in 30 newly constituted govt degree colleges, according to a notification issued on Tuesday evening. The move is aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of these institutions ahead of the upcoming academic session. As per the notification, principals of existing colleges, along with professors-in-charges and senior teachers up to the rank of associate professor, will be deputed to head the new colleges. This responsibility will be in addition to their current duties at their respective institutions.Out of the 30 colleges, 10 are located in various blocks of Begusarai district, while eight are in Darbhanga. Madhubani accounts for seven colleges and Samastipur has five institutions under the new arrangement. The distribution reflects an effort to expand higher education infrastructure across multiple districts in the region. These colleges were established after a state govt resolution issued on April 30 under the ‘Saat Nischay’ programme of the state govt, which envisages setting up govt degree colleges in 208 blocks across Bihar.
The initiative is intended to improve access to higher education, particularly for students residing in remote and underserved areas.Initially, six subjects—Hindi, English, history, economics, political science and sociology—will be offered from the coming session. Until permanent infrastructure is developed, the colleges will operate from the premises of nearby +2 govt schools.Meanwhile, LNMU has also issued a notice enhancing vacancies for guest teachers in these subjects to address the rising demand for faculty in the newly established colleges.
