A 60-year-old rental car driver, Rampravesh Singh, was fatally shot in Patna's Didarganj area on Saturday. Police are investigating the motive, examining his personal life and family background. Forensic teams and a dog squad have been deployed. This incident follows another murder in Kothiya village, prompting increased police presence in the region.
Patna: A 60-year-old man was allegedly shot dead in the Didarganj police station area of Patna on Saturday morning. The victim, Rampravesh Singh, was a rental car driver and a resident of Sonwa village under the Fatuha police station area. The motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained, said police.On receiving information, Fatuha sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Awadhesh Kumar and Didarganj SHO Sunil Kumar reached the spot and began an investigation. The body was sent to Nalanda Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team and a dog squad also visited the spot and recovered one empty bullet shell. The SDPO said the post-mortem report would confirm the exact number of bullets fired. “Multiple angles are being probed as the motive behind the murder is yet to be ascertained,” he said.According to police, Singh had remarried after the death of his first wife. He had no children from either marriage and is survived by three brothers. “His family background and personal life are also being examined to establish the motive,” Kumar added.
The SHO said CCTV footage from the surrounding areas is being reviewed to identify the assailants.The incident has heightened tension in the area after another murder. On Thursday night, in Kothiya village, four persons allegedly called Harsh Kumar out of his house and shot him dead. Police have intensified investigation and patrolling in the Didarganj-Fatuha region.
