7 women students of IIT-P selected for scholarship
Patna: Seven first-year BTech students (2025-29 batch) of the Indian Institute of Technology-Patna (IIT-Patna) have been selected for the esteemed Rupa Rahul Bajaj National Scholarship for women in engineering, 2025.The scholarship supports meritorious girl students pursuing core engineering disciplines. It provides comprehensive financial assistance over four years, covering semester-wise academic fees for the entire BTech programme. Beyond financial support, the scholarship offers mentorship, industry exposure and skill development opportunities, empowering students to excel academically and professionally. The students selected for this award include Priya Bharti, Sneha Raj, Saumya Tyagi, Kuracha Tejaswini, D Neeharika, Ishika Agrawal and Janhvi Singh.Congratulating the students for securing this prestigious scholarship, IIT-Patna director T N Singh wished them continued success in their academic and professional pursuits. He also commended the dedicated efforts of faculty members N K Tomar, Rishav Singh and Kripa Shankar Singh for ensuring a seamless selection and onboarding process.
The scholarship, which entails a grant of up to Rs 8 lakh per scholar over four years, addresses challenges commonly faced by women in manufacturing and core engineering fields, including financial constraints, limited access to role models and societal barriers. By fostering inclusion and visibility, the initiative strengthens diversity in the engineering ecosystem and empowers more women to pursue and succeed in engineering careers.This scholarship is meant for students of mechanical, electrical, electronics and communication, industrial/production, automobile, mechatronics, instrumentation, material sciences and metallurgy, said the director.
