Man arrested from Arunachal Pradesh for threatening Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma
ITANAGAR: A 29-year-old man from Arunachal Pradesh’s Naharlagun has been arrested for allegedly threatening to shoot Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, police said on Saturday.Krishna Dornal, a resident of Dolahtphulbari village, was taken into custody on Thursday following a tip-off from Assam police.

According to superintendent of police of the Itanagar Capital Region, Nyelam Nega, the accused had sent a threatening message to Sarma via WhatsApp. During interrogation, Dornal admitted to misappropriating money from a local wine shop. When the shop owner demanded an account of the finances, he initially sent a message to the official email of the Assam chief minister, seeking money.Receiving no response, Dornal reportedly found the chief minister’s WhatsApp number online and sent the threatening message.The accused has been handed over to Assam police for further investigation. SP Nega appealed to the public to exercise restraint and use social media responsibly, warning that any misuse or violation of the law could attract strict legal action.(With agency inputs)
