Lucknow: People on Thursday woke up to pre-dawn thunderstorm accompanied by light to moderate rainfall in different parts of the city, followed by partly cloudy skies throughout the day and a light thunder activity late evening.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) Lucknow, however, the conditions will change from Friday. Western disturbance and cyclonic circulations responsible for thunderstorms and light to moderate rainfall acrosss the state in past few days have weakened. This means, clear or partly cloudy sky, no rainfall and gradual rise in temperatures for the next three days.
Earlier, dark clouds covered the sky in the city through the morning, delaying daylight until around 9 am. The spell kept the weather conditions pleasant. The maximum temperature was 29.5 degrees Celsius, 10.2 units below normal and minimum temperature was 18 degrees Celsius, 6.3 notches below normal.
IMD, Lucknow, senior scientist Mohammad Danish, predicted rainfall activity may reduce from Friday and temperatures will rise by 5-6 degrees in the next three days.
“Coupled with high humidity levels due to moisture left behind by rainfall, weather will turn sultry with high discomfort levels,” he said.
In Lucknow, sky will be partly cloudy in the morning on Friday, but will clear by noon. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be around 33 and 23 degree Celsius, respectively.
Similar conditions will prevail in other parts of the state. Another weather disturbance may become active around May 12-13 and cause thunderstorms in the state, he added.
Elsewhere in the state, maximum temperatures ranged from 4 to 12 degrees below normal. The lowest maximum temperature 25 degrees Celsius was in Bijnore, followed by Hardoi 26 degrees Celsius and Bareilly 26.7 degrees Celsius.
Banda remained hottest place in the state with 37.4 degrees Celsius. Lakhimpur Kheri and Orai followed with 35.2 degrees Celsius each, while Jhansi recorded 34.8 degrees Celsius.
