Lucknow: Apna Dal (Kamerawadi) chief and Sirathu MLA Pallavi Patel was booked by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) after she, along with her supporters, staged a protest at Charbagh railway station demanding implementation of the University Grants Commission Equity Regulation.
During the protest, Patel climbed atop an inspection rail car (train) stationed at platform number 3, while her supporters stood on the railway tracks.
SHO, RPF Northern Railway, Bhupinder Chaudhary, said the protest began around 1.15pm and ended within a few minutes.
Senior divisional security commissioner, Northern Railway (Lucknow division), Devansh Shukla, confirmed to TOI that a case had been registered against Pallavi Patel and unidentified people under Sections 145, 147 and 156 of the Railway Act for creating nuisance, trespassing on railway property and for climbing atop train.
Station director Gaurav Dixit said that railway operations were not affected due to the protest as it ended quickly. “No railway property was damaged during the demonstration,” he said.
