KOZHIKODE: A case has been registered against Congress leader N. Subarahmanian of Karuvattoor, a member of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) Political Affairs Committee, for allegedly sharing an AI-generated image that showed chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan alongside Unnikrishnan Potty, an accused in the Sabarimala gold loss case. According to the FIR filed by Chevayoor police, Subarahmanian posted the image on social media with a caption questioning the nature of the Chief Minister’s alleged association with Potty, according to news agency PTI. Preliminary verification by the police confirmed that the photograph was created using artificial intelligence. The case has been registered under Section 192 of the Indian Penal Code for “wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause a riot” and under Section 120(o) of the Kerala Police Act for “causing annoyance through communication.” Authorities are also tracing others who may have shared similar images online, while investigations continue to identify the origin of the AI-generated photograph. Meanwhile, the CPI(M) clarified on Thursday that the image circulating on social media was fabricated using AI.
