Kolkata: The parents of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital rape-murder victim on Friday levelled serious allegations against
CBI, claiming the agency’s lawyer had coached them on what to say in court and had discouraged them from raising certain issues.
Appearing in Sealdah court, the victim’s father alleged CBI officials and lawyers had instructed the family to remain silent on certain matters during the investigation.
The allegations surfaced after CBI submitted a status report before the court. According to the report, investigators had examined call records of cops and hospital officials connected to the case.
Earlier, on May 13, the victim’s parents moved Sealdah court, seeking the arrest of former Panihati MLA Nirmal Ghosh, chairman Somnath Dey and their neighbour Sanjib Mukhopadhyay.
During the hearing on Friday, counsel for the victim’s family urged the court to bring these three individuals under the ambit of the investigation. The family questioned how the CBI had excluded them from the probe without conducting any inquiry.
The CBI, however, informed the court that no written complaint had been lodged against the three individuals.
“Everyone who was present at the crime scene is culpable,” the victim’s mother said. She also questioned the role of a senior doctor, Sumit Roy Tapadar, alleging that he covered the body with a blanket after noticing that it was unclothed.
