Gurgaon woman strangled with dupatta by husband over suspicion, accused held

GURGAON: A 37-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife with a dupatta after suspecting her of speaking to another person over the phone in Manesar. The accused, identified as Narendra, a native of Nangla Davda village in Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh who was living in Bashariya village in Manesar, was arrested on June 4 from near the KMP Expressway.Police said the case came to light on June 4 when Sector-7 IMT Manesar police received information that a woman had died by hanging and her body had been taken to a hospital. A police team, along with senior officers and forensic experts, reached the hospital and the spot to inspect the scene and collect evidence.According to the complaint filed by the victim’s brother, Kajal Devi, 36, had been living with her husband and children in a rented house in the said village. The complainant alleged that Narendra had been assaulting her over minor issues for some time and had also stopped providing financial support to the family, following which she started working at a company.The brother further alleged that Narendra became enraged after seeing Kajal talking to someone on the phone late at night and strangled her with a dupatta.Based on the complaint, police registered a murder case at Sector-7 IMT Manesar police station.
Narendra according to the police was employed at a Maruti manufacturing facility in IMT Manesar. Preliminary investigation revealed that on the night of June 3-4, an argument broke out between the couple after he saw his wife speaking on the phone. Police said he allegedly strangled her with a dupatta, leading to her death.Investigators have recovered the dupatta allegedly used in the crime.Police said further legal proceedings are underway and the investigation is continuing.
