The timing of two events colliding can form something absolutely disconnected, but somewhere down the line, they connect... long story short: YouTuber Jesse Ridgway, known as McJuggerNuggets in cyberspace, and his wife, Ashley, recently announced online their difficult decision to terminate their pregnancy following a prenatal screening showing a high possibility of the fetus having Trisomy 21 [Down Syndrome]. This decision and their news collide with a recent MLFootball social media post on Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh. The coach once said, “[Abortion] is the most horrendous thing I could possibly conceive.”

Jesse Ridgway and Ashley abort pregnancy while Jim Harbaugh believes abortion is a life or death type of issue

The Nightly’s Peta Rasdien reported that Jesse Ridgway and his wife, Ashley, made the “very difficult decision” to abort their baby after discovering he had Down Syndrome. Ridgway is a YouTube star and has over 4.34 million subscribers. He made the shocking disclosure on Thursday via his social media channels. But it caused a wave of death threats and furious comments that alleged that the decision was made based on their “convenience.” However, Jesse and Ashley were completely devastated by their decision. “Down Syndrome isn’t a blessing, it is objectively sh**ty from a health perspective. I didn’t realize just how rough it is for the child, let alone the family...more often than not, they would be fully dependent on others for the rest of their life.
I know some of you may be very disappointed to hear this news. We are devastated. This has been extremely traumatic for both of us, especially Ashley. She underwent the procedure earlier this week and is on the mend. Thankfully, everything went smoothly, but emotionally we are drained,” Jesse wrote.

What is Down’s Syndrome?

According to NDSS [National Down Syndrome Society], Common traits of Down Syndrome include low muscle tone, small stature, an upward slant to the eyes, and a single deep crease across the center of the palm. Individuals with Down Syndrome have cognitive delays varying from very mild to severe. Most fall in the mild to moderate category.

Jim Harbaugh spoke at a pro life fundraising event in Michigan

As for Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh’s views on abortion? They date back to July 2022 when the coach was interviewed by ESPN’s Gene Wojciechowski during the team’s summer tour. He was the Michigan Wolverines’ head coach then. He had not entered the NFL. He entered the NFL in 2024 as the head coach of the Los Angeles Chargers and has remained in that role to date. The coach had spoken at a pro-life fundraising event in Michigan a week before the interview. “Let’s discuss it. I’ve told [them] the same thing I tell my kids, boys, the girls, same thing I tell our players, our staff members. I encourage them if they have a pregnancy that wasn’t planned, to go through with it. Let that unborn child be born. And if at that time, you don’t feel like you can care for it, you don’t have the means or the wherewithal, then Sarah and I will take that baby.”Jim Harbaugh’s wife, Sarah, too, spoke at the 2022 Plymouth Right to Life event in Plymouth, Michigan.

Faith, family, and football

At another event, Harbaugh said, “I believe in having the courage to let the unborn be born. I love life. I believe in having a loving care and respect for life and death. My faith and my science are what drive these beliefs in me. Faith, family, football…those are my priorities. I just think that the abortion issue is one that’s so big that it needs to be talked about. It needs serious conversation. What do you think? What do I think? What do others think?”

Abortion is the most horrendous thing

The coach added, “It’s a life-or-death type of issue. And I believe, and I respect people’s views. But let’s hear them. Let’s discuss them because there’s passion on both sides of this issue. So, when you combine that with respect, that’s when the best results come. [I’m] just contributing to that conversation and that communication, which I think is really important, in my opinion.”When ESPN asked the coach at Big Ten media days in 2022 about his comments, Harbaugh said that he considers abortion to be “the most horrendous thing I could possibly conceive.”“Any player on our team, any female staff member, or any staff member or anybody in our family or our extended family……that doesn’t feel like after they have a baby, they can take care of it, we’ve got a big house. We’ll raise that baby,” Harbaugh said then.
