Kochi: An excise team arrested a Thammanam native with multiple narcotic substances from near Ernakulam Town railway station on Thursday.
The accused was identified as Muhammed Fayas. The team seized 6.173g of MDMA, 1.11g of hashish oil and 1.65g of ganja from the accused.
The accused was nabbed by a team led by Ernakulam excise range inspector Abhiraj R. The team included civil excise officers Amaldeep C G, Jibinas, Praveenkumar V H, Ashkar Sabu, Princy and driver Vishnu Kumar.
Kaapa invoked: A 38-year-old history-sheeter was detained under Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act (Kaapa) and imprisoned on Thursday.
Kaapa was invoked against Ajims, 38, from Marampally. Following his arrest he has been moved to Viyyur Central Jail. The order was issued by Ernakulam district collector Priyanka G, based on a report from the Ernakulam rural district police chief.
Police said that the man was involved in numerous cases within Perumbavoor and Aluva East police station limits, including murder, robbery, drug-related offences, assault, trespassing, obstructing police duties and crimes against women.
Police said that he is an accused in the murder of one Shamsuddin at Perumbavoor in Sept 2024. The Act was invoked following his implication in a robbery case registered by Perumbavoor police last Jan.
Perumbavoor inspector L Anil Kumar, sub-inspectors Praveen Prakash and Joby George, assistant sub-inspector K R Sudheer and civil police officers M H Sudheer and P K Harris made the arrest.
