Kochi: A bus rear-ended a truck at Chakkaraparambu along Edappally-Vyttila bypass on Thursday morning, disrupting the traffic for over an hour.
Police said that an interstate bus having Nagaland registration crashed into the truck that was going in the same direction. The bus that left Chennai on Wednesday evening was on its way to Thiruvalla when the accident occurred. Although there were passengers in the bus, none sustained any major injuries.
Even though the damage was limited to the front portion of the bus, the driver was unable to move the vehicle from the spot, leading to the traffic snarl. Police had to divert traffic through one side of the busy road. The bus was towed away by a recovery van nearly an hour later.
The accident that happened during the rush hour left many passengers stuck in the traffic jam. Police rushed to the spot to reduce the traffic snarl even as it took time for the recovery vehicle to arrive, sources said.
