Kottayam: Film and serial actor Santosh K Nair, 66, was killed after the car he was driving collided with a mini truck at Enathu near Adoor in Pathanamthitta at 6.15am on Tuesday. A woman co-traveller from Thiruvananthapuram sustained injuries.
The car driven by Santosh and the mini truck used for parcel service collided at MG Junction, Puthussery area, on Adoor-Enath MC Road. Santosh was travelling from Thiruvananthapuram towards Kottayam, while the parcel truck was heading from Adoor towards Thiruvananthapuram. After the accident, locals had to cut open the vehicle to rescue Santosh and the woman.
Although locals rushed them to a private hospital in Adoor, Santosh succumbed to his severe injuries. The parcel truck driver Sudheesh, 37, also sustained injuries in the accident.
Santosh recently played a major role in the Malayalam film ‘Mohiniyattam' and acted in over a hundred films, mostly in negative roles. He was a junior to actor Mohanlal at M G College, Thiruvananthapuram.
He is survived by his wife Shubhashree (retired teacher, Sreekrishna School, Guruvayur), daughter Dr Rajashree and son-in-law Dr Ashik Menon.
