Kanpur: A woman died and six members of a family were injured after a car went out of control and collided with a vehicle ahead in Talagram Kotwali area of Kannauj district. The accident occurred near Machhaiya village on the Agra-Lucknow Expressway while the family was travelling to Sultanpur.
Jayashankar Tiwari (40), a resident of village Janoura under Thana Akhand Nagar, Sultanpur district, was returning from Noida to Sultanpur with his wife Priya Tiwari (38), daughter Nandani Tiwari (5), father Durga Prasad Tiwari (60), uncle Sadashiv Tiwari (55), grandmother Chintadevi (80), and a relative Sandhya Shukla (25) on Tuesday. Jayashankar was driving the car.
Around 7 o’clock on Tuesday, as the car approached near Machhaiya village, Jayashankar allegedly dozed off after which the vehicle went out of control and hit the vehicle moving ahead. All the occupants of the car were injured.
On being informed, UPEIDA assistant security officer Rajendra Prasad Kanaujia, along with a patrol team and station head officer Vinay Kumar Sharma, reached the spot. Police and the UPEIDA team sent the injured to hospital.
The injured were taken by ambulance to Rajkiya Medical College, Tirwa, where doctors declared Chintadevi dead. Other injured are under treatment at the hospital. Police removed the damaged car with the help of crane.
