Merchant navy officer commits suicide
Times News NetworkKanpur: A merchant navy officer committed suicide by hanging self in his house in Ratanpur Colony in the Panki police station area of Kanpur late Monday evening. Police and a forensic team reached the spot, conducted an investigation, and sent the body for post-mortem.The deceased was identified as Vikas Kumar, 32, son of Ratanpur Colony resident Ramnaresh. Vikas Kumar was posted in the Merchant Navy in Brazil and had taken leave and returned home about three months ago.He is survived by his wife Keerti, mother Rambeti and younger brother Ashish. The family has so far been unable to state the reason behind the suicide. Panki Police and the forensic team, after receiving information, collected evidence from the scene. Police have stated that the matter is under investigation and further action will be taken after the post-mortem report is received.
